Jon Michael It would be a shame if this actually ended up being Keith's last album, because Orbits stands as my favourite album of his. The core songwriting of Keith and his guitar are always there, but this album feels a step above on instrumentation and production. Let's hope he keeps going. Favorite track: The Weight of a Dream.

Kristin Hi Keith, I just listened to your new album and love it. My favorites are the first and last tracks. I think I'm going to listen to Night Prayer every night!

Keeper of the Fire Hide me here in the cleft of the rock And place Your hand over me Shield my eyes as Your glory passes by It's more than I can bear to see I have come through the desert Rested with your angel there awhile You called to me under a dry and lifeless tree Hopeless and lost and ready to die Chorus: Now I am here at the centre of it all And You're closer than I could dare to dream Keeper of the fire and the wind Whisper Your name to me I get caught up in this moment Where everything seems so clear And I drink deep of heaven's perfect peace And there's no room left to fear You have fed me by the river And brought Your Ravens to my side Through the years of drought I spent in the widow's house The jar of oil did not run dry Chorus: Now I am here at the centre of it all And You're closer than I could dare to dream Keeper of the fire and the wind Whisper Your name to me Chorus: Now I am here at the centre of it all And You're closer than I could dare to dream Keeper of the fire and the wind Whisper Your name to me Whisper Your name...

Never Been to War I was born beside cool water I'm the son of a preacher's daughter And I've never been to war I was raised with a firm right hand My father is a good man And I've never been to war Chorus 1: There's a little hope inside every song I sing Try to let it go, it just comes right back again Oh these mountains will make diamonds out of ordinary men I believe it all, but then, I have never been to war So spin me out across mirrored faces, timeless spaces Where the blue sky meets the land For I am graced by Wind and sunshine spray and straight lines Make my bed upon the sand Chorus 2: There's a little hope inside every song I sing Tried to let it go, it just comes right back again Oh these rivers, they will leave you in the company of friends I have seen through to the end, though I've never been to war Bridge: And in a moment this will all be over Close your eyes and wiggle your toes We are headed toward some glorious transformation And what we shall become, no one really knows I am wading under moonlight bathed in starlight Somewhere out beyond the shore Would you meet me On that morning, oh my soul is yearning To hear the lions at the door Chorus 3: There's a little hope inside every song I sing Try to let it go, it just comes right back again We are wandering here like beggars, someday soon we will be kings As though waking from a dream Though I've never... Oh I've never been to war

A Clean Break Let's make a clean break Let's make a fresh start Turn over a new leaf Skip right to the best part Hitch up the wagons We're headed West We've heard of fertile fields over hill and vale But baby we ain't been there yet You're a good woman and I know your will is strong But this well's been drawn And honey it's time for moving on It's been a good run We've put up a good fight We've worked our hands raw We've stayed up worrying into the night But there are golden fields Somewhere under a blue sky You tell me this land is our home But I see that faraway look in your eyes And no one believed you'd ever hold this long You proved them wrong But honey it's time for moving on Bridge: We've sown good seed in this soil, here But somehow we only get dust We could press on, but darlin' I fear We're in for more sorrow and heartache and rust Before it's too late, Let's make a clean break ...You're a good woman and I know your will is strong But this well's been drawn And honey it's time for moving on

Miracle 04:15
Miracle Prayers all ricochet off the ceiling Feels like heaven's made of brass What could this silence be revealing How long will your indifference last I have kept my way blameless There is no blood on these hands Bent my knee in your temple And I am not a greedy man Oh, but I could use a miracle tonight Oh I could use a miracle tonight Why do the wicked seem to prosper While the righteous live in need And still our prayers go unanswered Why won't you listen to my plea Oh I could use a miracle tonight Oh I could use a miracle tonight Come quickly to my aid Lord rend the heavens and come down Hear your servant in the hour of need Till then, there's no help to be found And I could use a miracle tonight Oh I could use a miracle tonight Oh I could use a miracle tonight

Ghost in the Halls My heart's an old house With a ghost in the halls There are creaks in my floorboards And fingerprints on the walls And as hard as I try To pretend You're not there I hear the shuffling of feet As we pass on the stairs Chorus 1: And You don't know when to quit I have cast You out more times than I care to admit How long will we carry on this way How long do You intend to stay, stay, stay Like and old ocean liner On a dark Arctic sea I have sailed these rough waters Filled with ice and debris You're the salty old captain With the wheel in his grip And a stubborn commitment to go down with this ship Chorus 2: And You don't know when to quit I have mutinied more times than I care to admit How long will we carry on this way How long do You intend to stay, stay, stay Bridge: I have drowned You in bourbon tranquilized You with gin smoked You out like a bandit You keep waltzing back in And so we are caught In this cosmic stalemate I'm the desolate moon Resigned to my fate But You are the star Shine Your light on my face And hold me in orbit As we go spinning through space Chorus 3: And You don't know when to quit But Your love will outlast my attempts to resist How long will we carry on this way Promise me You'll never leave and I'll come around someday...

Weight of a Dream Me and the Magic Man went for a long drive On past the desert of rejection one day, he said "I was a prodigy, I was a rising star I never dreamed my life would turn out this way Call it a misdirection, call it a sleight of hand I never get to choose my own cards Maybe it's out there, floating in the ether Maybe it's decided somewhere, written in the stars" You can spend your life, waiting for that phone call Nothing's ever as good as it seems We're all straining toward that horizon Struggling under the weight of a dream I knew a Geographer, let's call him "Bob" He couldn't read a map to save his life, he said "I spent years wandering in circles Now I'm just trying to get home to my wife. Call it a premonition, maybe it's my addled mind I start to worry when things go a little too good Sometimes I close my eyes and squint into the future Where I write comic books in a house in the woods." You can spend your life, waiting for that phone call Nothing's ever as bad as it seems We're all straining toward that horizon Struggling under the weight of a dream Bridge: And the Moneyman laughs, oh cause he knows it's all just a game We talk about werewolves and dream that we're heroes and sail ships through puddles in the rain Michael's a baker, used to be a preacher, maybe he's an angel, Even the Magic Man can't tell. He says, everything's rising like bread in the oven Some day we'll get there and all will be well. You can spend your life, waiting for that phone call Nothing's ever as good as it seems We're all straining toward that horizon Struggling under the weight of a dream

Make a Way 04:08
Make A Way We're hemmed in Pressed down and whittled thin Tangled in a fowler's snare Underground Too deep to hear a sound Desperately we gasp for air Through all of our trials Make a way, make a way We wait here groaning day after day Long You have been my shield and my stay We ask You, Oh Lord Make a way My enemies Have made a fool of me Even now they taunt me in my grief Rise to my defence Uphold my innocence Surely You can bring some relief Through all of our trials Make a way, make a way We wait here groaning day after day Long You have been my shield and my stay We ask You, Oh Lord Make a way

Captivated 03:01
Captivated Eyes to see the sun rise o'er the lake Skies of blue and grey I pause to take it in And turn it o'er again I am captivated Rise to glimpse the last few morning stars Light years away from ours Around their orbits race Suspended by this grace I am captivated Vast the realms which tether all of this Quarks and synapses A Universe so small Though I can't grasp it all I am captivated

Contrition 03:49
Contrition All the palms I have laid at Your feet are now the ashes that cover over me I have nothing but contrition to bring Oh, repentance is my only offering All the vows I have made in my zeal Were as reckless as a drunk behind the wheel I have nothing but contrition to bring Oh, repentance is my only offering But You have made a way for me And I will not despair I will come on bended knee You will do the rest I am choking on the smoke from all the bridges I have burned I have scuttled all my ships and there are lessons I have learned I have nothing but contrition to bring Oh, repentance is my only offering But You have made a way for me And I will not despair I will come on bended knee You will do the rest

Night Prayer 04:24
Night Prayer It is night, night is for stillness Let us be still in the presence of God After a long day of labours and troubles Day's last light fades and the shadows grow long What has been done has been done And all we have left undone Dear child, let it be Let it be In this night, darkness reminds us We face much evil without and within Cast your fears, and all of your struggles Onto the One who can pardon your sin All of your dread and your fears All of your sins and your tears Fear not, child and sleep Let it be Even now, shrouded in darkness We know the night will give way to the dawn Morning shall break, and bring its new mercies And all of creation will break forth in song 'Til then, grant Your peace To all those who have no peace Oh Lord, let it be Let it be
