Waiting
04:28
|
|||
Waiting on the sunrise, I am waiting on the day
When all the colors I have painted with will soon be washed away.
Would you meet me in the morning? Wake me up before the dawn.
Light a candle in my room to tell all my friends I’ve gone.
I am waiting. Waiting.
She blew in from out of nowhere like a Kansas City wind
and wrote the songs we could not sing, she taught us how to pray again
But they burned her from both ends, her candle would not last the night
“It’s such a shame”, said all her foes and friends, she gave such a lovely light
Is she still waiting? *
Chorus:
When the last bell sounds and the Angel gives the word
When You come to claim Your Bride, will you find faith upon the earth?
Oh, come catch us in the act, like a thief in the night.
Fill our souls with the calm assurance everything will be alright.
Find me waiting.
Still we flood the seas with poison, and take children by the arm
The present state of affairs gives us no cause for alarm
And some would say it’s better, it means He’s returning soon.
So go ahead, pile up the garbage. We will desecrate the moon!
But that’s not waiting.
Chorus:
When the last bell sounds and the Angel gives the word
When You come to claim Your Bride, will you find faith upon the earth?
Oh, come catch us in the act, like a thief in the night.
Fill our souls with the calm assurance everything will be alright
Find me waiting.
Bridge:
But the hardest part of waiting, well it just might be the waiting.
And I can’t just go on like this forever. Lord don’t leave me waiting.
So come pronounce the final verdict at the evening of the day
‘Cause If You don’t find me waiting, it won’t matter anyway.
‘til then wash us with the blood of Christ, and fill us with your breath
There’s still many miles to go before we lay our heads to rest.
Find me waiting.

Every Common Bush
04:05
|
|||
Two hours ‘til morning
Sleep still eludes me
I turn to watch her dream
And wait for her to rise
And catch a fleeting glimpse of death and resurrection
playing out before my eyes.
Morning comes softly
Wrapped in a raincloud
Flooding the fields and
Filling the fruit on the vine
Each in its own time
Slow and tedious the earth
is transforming water into wine.
And where once I saw common, all is holy
Suddenly I can’t look at anything the same
From where I sit, I see every common bush
Bursting into flame.
So I pause to ponder
the gifts of His splendor
Wounds healed and earthquakes
Split seas and dead raised
and perhaps We’ve been getting it all wrong
Seems to me that we’ve been standing on His presence
Right here all along.

Fade
04:00
|
|||
Is this the end of the world, or something much stranger?
I feel like I’m drifting away
I’ve pledged my life to the Man from the manger
But tonight He has asked me to pray
But my eyes are tired and my head feels heavy
I feel like I’m slipping away
Now there’s a hand on my shoulder, and the footsteps of soldiers
Lord tell me I’m not too late
Chorus:
Don’t let me fade into the darkness
You’re all that I want, all my soul craves
Don’t let me fade into the darkness
Tonight when the whole world is at stake.
I watched Him there in moonlight, crying.
As He asked for this cup to be passed.
He’s spent so many nights shouldering this burden,
But I fear tonight may be His last.
‘Cuz His eyes are tired, and my heart feels heavy
I feel like He’s slipping away
There’s nothing anyone can do to help Him see this through
So I just listen while He prays
Chorus:
Don’t let me fade into the darkness
You’re all that I want, all my soul craves
Don’t let me fade into the darkness
Tonight when the whole world is at stake.
Bridge:
And Lord, let Your Kingdom come
Lord, let Your Kingdom come
Lord, let Your Kingdom come
Chorus:
Don’t let me fade into the darkness
You’re all that I want, all my soul craves
Don’t let me fade into the darkness
Tonight when the whole world is at stake.

Best of Me
03:03
|
|||
I try so hard to live in the meantime.
I try to do the best I can
I want to live a life of purpose.
I want to be a kinder man.
But as the days come and the days go,
I lose sight of what You see.
I admit sometimes, it just gets the best of me.
Time after time I wonder what I’m doing here.
Maybe it’s all just in my head.
But I’ve worked through every single one of my doubts
No longer question what You’ve said
But as the night falls and the wind calls,
I feel my confidence flee
I’m ashamed to say it just gets the best of me.
Bridge:
I know the best of intentions, are like stones on the road to Hell.
I depend upon Your intervention to atone for all the times I fell.
I find my rest in Your forgiveness.
I’ve found my place before Your throne.
You drank the cup of my short-falling.
You’ve proudly called me Your own.
So there’s no point in trying
to be someone I could never be.
Lord, I still want to give You the best of me.
Lord, I still want to give You the best of me.

Long Way Down
03:47
|
|||
Life is more than just a cosmic accident
And love is more than just a chemical experience
And I believe there’s more to right and wrong
than whatever you and I decide we can agree upon
But I can’t believe this is all for nothing and it don’t make sense.
It’s a long way down.
I’ve tried so many times to turn my back and walk away.
Left me colorblind and swimming in a sea of grey.
There’s something here that’s more than any simple word can say
Like a perfect moment that takes your breath away
Cuz I can’t believe this is all for nothing and it don’t make sense.
It’s a long way down.
Chorus:
It’s a long way down
It’s a long way down
And I’ve seen too much to turn back now.
They say the universe is on it’s way to getting old.
One day it’ll burn out and all our hearts and stars grow cold.
Well, if there’s no God, that’s just the way it goes.
And then nothing we do here matters anyway.
So don’t try to tell me this is all for nothing and it don’t make sense.
It’s a long way down
Chorus:
It’s a long way down
It’s a long way down
And I’ve seen too much to turn back now.
Bridge:
Once my world was monochrome and I didn’t know what I was missing.
Until someone turned the rainbow on.
Now, I’m tryin’ to tell you somethin’
I can’t believe this is all for nothing and it don’t make sense.
It’s a long way down.
Chorus:
It’s a long way down
It’s a long way down
And I’ve seen too much to turn back now.

Empty Page
04:03
|
|||
Staring at an empty page, and thinking of You.
Hovering over the water, wonderin’ what You should do.
Knowing if You made us this way, we’d eventually fall.
And knowing the price we’d both pay, You risked it all.
Chorus:
Cause love is wild and free.
It chooses where it goes.
And who can make any sense
of how it ebbs and it flows?
Can’t quench it with a river. You can’t kill it with a nail.
It won’t come when you call it, and it ain’t up for sale.
And it may be the best thing we have here on earth.
But sometimes I wonder if it ain’t more trouble than it’s worth
Chorus:
Cause love is wild and free.
It chooses where it goes.
And who can make any sense
of how it ebbs and it flows?

Faith in Your Goodness
03:05
|
|||
Seems like I have a crisis of faith every day in the afternoon
My skies are overcast with a chance of doom and gloom.
And even my mother says, “Son, you gotta be happy some of the time.”
So, I thought I take this moment to say, “You are the reason behind my rhymes.”
Chorus:
I have faith in Your goodness.
faith in Your arms.
You’re the only One who holds me together
when this old world lets me down.
Seems like I spend most of my time worrying ‘bout things to come.
S’pose I’d rather feel too deeply than let my heart and head grow numb.
But all of my friends, they say, “Man, you really need to lighten up.”
You hold my future in Your hands and for me that’s peace enough.
Chorus:
I have faith in Your goodness.
faith in Your arms.
You’re the only One who holds me together
when this old world lets me down.

Pocket Full of Seeds
03:57
|
|||
She awoke with a start from a dream that left her lonely.
Got dressed and started pacing the floor.
She said, “My life is half over, I’ve got nothing left to show,
‘cept these kids and a dress that won’t fit me anymore.”
There was a time he took the train to an office in the corner
Made six figures, and everybody called him “Sir”
When the music finally stopped, he was left without a chair
and wondering who his real friends were
Chorus:
You won’t know your friends from your enemies
‘til you find yourself in a moment of need.
Oh, life’s so much better than the sum of it’s parts.
Keep your eyes open. Keep your pockets full of seed.
Now, ever since they cut him loose, he’s been walking after sunset
He takes note of every star up in the sky.
He is thankful for the crunch of the snow beneath his feet
And every day he stops to thank God that he’s alive.
Chorus:
You won’t know your friends from your enemies
‘til you find yourself in a moment of need.
Oh, life’s so much better than the sum of it’s parts.
Keep your eyes open. Keep your pockets full of seed.
Bridge:
I have stared fear and failure in the face.
I’m the recipient of an unmerited grace.
Some of my dreams have not panned out and I can’t say why
Maybe they’re just seeds that can’t bear fruit until they die.
In the early hours of morning he found her staring at the table
holding her tea, waiting for the sun to rise.
He kissed her neck, scooped her up, and told her everything she needed
She lay back down with a smile and closed her weary eyes.
Chorus:
You won’t know your friends from your enemies
‘til you find yourself in a moment of need.
Oh, life’s so much better than the sum of it’s parts.
Keep your eyes open. Keep your pockets full of seed.
Keep your eyes open. Keep your pockets full of seed.

Just For a Moment
03:31
|
|||
Just for a moment, everything’s right.
Pull out onto the highway, under a bright orange sky
The soft smell of cedar, and the salt in the air.
I can still see the smoke, but the fire’s not here.
Chorus:
And I know the whole world is crazy
And it seems like there’s no end in sight.
But somehow a rare perfect moment
Caught me by surprise.
And I just wanted to say,
“Thank you for my life”.
Just for a moment, I wanna pause and reflect
There’s more good in this world than I have come to expect
So I’ll write you this song, cuz I’m prone to forget
All the goodness You’ve shown me since the day that we met
Chorus:
And I know that You have not spared us
from the things that go “bump” in the night.
But somehow this rare perfect moment
Caught me by surprise.
And I just wanted to say,
“Thank you for my life”.
Ending:
I’m alright. I’m alright
I’m alright. I’m alright
I’m alright. I’m alright

Time
03:34
|
|||
And time lurches on, like a train in the yard.
Is it moaning to stop or groaning to start?
And I feel like a child waiting to be born.
Will my eyes live to see the bright lights of this morn?
Chorus:
And sometimes I think time’s just passing me by.
Will this all pass away in the blink of an eye?
Well, the earth’s like an ox that’s been yoked to the plow.
It strains toward the edge, but it’s trapped in the now.
And I feel like a man, caught in the rain.
Fumbling for his keys. Trying to get home again.
Chorus:
And sometimes I think time’s just passing me by.
Will this all pass away in the blink of an eye?
Bridge
But, there’s a breath in my soul that seems
to transcend this life.
It creeps back from the veil.
And whispers rumours of light.
Chorus:
And sometimes I think time’s just passing me by.
Will this all pass away in the blink of an eye?

Ring Them Bells
03:40
|
|||
Ring them bells, ye heathen
from the city that dreams
Ring them bells from the sanctuaries
’cross the valleys and streams
For they’re deep and they’re wide
and the world’s on its side
And time is running backwards
And so is the bride
Ring them bells St. Peter
Where the four winds blow
Ring them bells with an iron hand
So the people will know
Oh it’s rush hour now
on the wheel and the plow
And the sun is going down
upon the sacred cow
Ring them bells Sweet Martha
for the poor man’s son
Ring them bells so the world will know
that God is one
Oh the shepherd is asleep
where the willows weep
And the mountains are filled
with lost sheep
Ring them bells for the blind and the deaf
Ring them bells for all of us who are left
Ring them bells for the chosen few
who will judge the many
when the game is through
Ring them bells, for the time that flies
For the child that cries
When innocence dies
Ring them bells St. Catherine
from the top of the room
Ring them from the fortress
for the lilies that bloom
Oh the lines are long
and the fighting is strong
And they’re breaking down the distance between right and wrong
Oh, ring them bells.
Oh, ring them bells.
Oh, ring them bells...

Come behold the Light
Sent to us from up above
Wellspring of the Joy of Life
Offering of the Fatherʼs Love
We were born in darkness
Separated from our true selves
He has come to set us free
Our Emmanuel
Chorus:
So let Him shine in the darkness
So we can see the best and the worst of ourselves
Let Him rise among us
And draw all men to Himself
Behold the light
Such a crude beginning
for majesty such as this
If weʼd only known He was coming
We might have fixed the place up a bit
But Maryʼs face is beaming
Josephʼs bursting his buttons with pride
Cause this babe in the manger
has come to bring us life.
Chorus:
So let Him shine in the darkness
So we can see the best and the worst of ourselves
Let Him rise among us
And draw all men to Himself
Behold the light
